Something light.

I’m a sucker for make up products… I love to paint my face. Its art to me.

I understand the need to want to constantly upgrade your physical appearance.

You can’t go from being Michael Jackson as a baby to MJ on his dying day. That’s wild!!! 😏😵😨

Serious question though; ladies, when you transform your skin colour, do you “bleach” the “cookie” aswell? 😉

Appreciate that melanin… 💜💛

Most of my friends are light skinned so I’m often referred to as the “black girl” which is completely ignorant seeing as we are all generally referred to as “black people“.

I’ve never wanted to be light skin or fair (since its shorter to spell). 😏😉

I’ve always assumed it is a lot of work to maintain so I opted for chocolate. I literally want to look exactly like a bar of sneakers 🍫🍫🍫🍫

Right now, I’m at the Milo level (beverage) but I’ll take it. 😁😁😁

The other day I got complemented on my skin by a total stranger and you can bet it; I told everyone willing and unwilling to listen.

My melanin is starting to POP!!!

The lesson here is a lot of darker skinned girls rarely get complemented on their skin. They say the lighter tones are more attractive.

I’m not arguing this because I belong to the former but because beauty is beauty.

Its the same way light skinned girls get told “you’re only fine because you’re light. If you were black, you wouldn’t look this good“.

That’s BS if you ask me…

We’ve become so carried away with outer beauty that we forget to build our personalities.

Insecurity stinks.

Society norm is so unstable that if you can’t decide for yourself what it is you want and need for yourself and appreciate who you are regardless of what you look like, you’d be like a fish drowning in the ocean.

Your body is your home. Treasure it.

Improving yourself is allowed but don’t change for anyone. You are so beautiful just the way you are sis.

Enough of the “bleach in Two days soaps and creams“. Skin cancer is a real thing.

I did a little research because my love for you (all) is so deep, the ocean would be jealous.

Here’s a few ingredients to look out for that can eventually destroy your skin sooner or later so you can stay away from it.

  • Coal tar and coal tar derived products
  • Borates
  • BHA (butylated hydroxyanisole) and BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene)
  • Formaldehyde & Formaldehyde-Releasing Preservatives
  • Mercury
  • Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) Compounds
  • Hydroquinone
  • Oxybenzone
  • Triclosan
  • Parabens
  • *”Fragrances and perfumes” emit volatile organic compounds (VOCs), formaldehyde, and other toxic chemicals, some of which have been linked to cancer.
  • Phthalates
  • Petroleum Distillates
  • Toluene
  • Siloxanes and Cyclomethicone
  • Sodium Lauryl Sulfate & Sodium Laureth Sulfate
  • Retinol & Retinyl Palmitate/Acetate
  • Nanoparticles
  • Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) aka Teflon.

Stay beautiful sisters!!! ✌

  1. This!!!!!! Most of the self hatred and wishing for lighter skin stem from white supremacy. I wish I could tell every dark skinned girls who were bullied, shunned that they are beautiful, & don’t need to be lighter to feel beautiful. Also those people that say to lighter skinned women “if you were darker, you won’t be pretty”….STOP!! That’s rude.
